Moby Dick or The Brotherhood of the Monastic Order of Ancient Mariners Purges the Ills of Society Through a Reading of the Tales of Moby-Dick

This contemporary interpretation of Herman Melville’s Moby Dick reunites puppeteer Blair Thomas, songwriter Michael Smith, and percussionist Michael Zerang.

Together they explore the implications of storytelling, tracing Ishmael’s hope that recounting his adventure will deliver his soul. Through Thomas’s image-based theater, Smith’s folk-rock songs, and Zerang’s atmospheric percussion, the themes, sensations, and environments of this larger than life story becomes visible.
